Patek Philippe

Hi ! How does the Patek Ref 5070 compare with the earlier iconic Patek chronograph models such as Ref 130, Ref 530, Ref 1463, Ref 1579 ?

I have owned three of them -  the 5070G and the 1463J and 1579J.  Recently sold the 5070 but still have the others.

I much prefer the two vintage pieces to the current 5070.  In my mind they are more balanced and aesthetically pleasing not to mention the unusual lugs on the 1579.  I thought the 5070 was too big and has less character but I'm sure this will be a minority opinion on this forum.

Not at all mate, coz 5070 is just popular for its bigger size as huge cases are quite sporadic in Patek Philippe, otherwise definitely the vintage versions have a more classy and sophisticated presentation.

it's the perfect size, not too small, not to big ... just perfect

...5070G, 5070R and 130 in Rose gold. The 130, at 33mm feels half the size, but twice the elegance. It's my favorite. It does feel more delicate, when pressing the chrono pushers, than the modern counterpart for sure. Been at Patek for a loooooooong time for a service...I miss it!

 It is because this  watch is maintaining the state of full original and is maintaining a condition  like  surprising moreover.

BTW Why did you send it PP . Routine service or something else because it looks pristine

...Routine service plus, according to Patek, the lugs are actually not as original (the holes for the spring bars have been filled) so they will re-drill the holes (as per the other two tone example) to take the proper spring bars.

So far the comparisons have only been about the looks................what about the movements ? Isnt the Nouvelle Lemania Ch 27-70 probably the best chrono movment from Patek so far ?

It is indeed the perfect size for a wrist, I just got one for maself coz i think i need to expand ma collection as most of ma good pateks have been forcefully snatched by ma friends , the 5070 has the perfect size but it does not exude that sopchistication that stands mandatory for a Patek, but still that's a matter of individual opinion.
