I am sleepless. Tomorrow I will be collecting my dream watch, a 5970G. To me this is the pinnacle of my watch collecting ambitions and I just hope that I can now rest easy without feeling that yearning every time I walk past a watch store (at least for a while). I simply adore the look of this watch and it is (I am) now responsible for emptying my wallet of my hard earned savings. But what the hell! Life is for living, right? I will post some pictures if you are interested. Thanks to everyone who regularly posts on this forum. I am not an active poster, but you're comments and threads for been a huge help to me in reaching some 'challenging' decisions and have kept me thoroughly entertained along the way.

Enjoy it to the full - mine comes soon...so I absolutely understand your anticipation. But I agree with the comment below...the beauty of the 5970 will only fuel the desire for more Pateks!!! Enjoy the addiction!
Hope you like them. It's difficult to describe the feeling I have putting this watch on. It's a wonderful piece of micro engineering and beautiful to behold. I feel lucky and very privileged to be about to indulge my hobby to this extent. But in some ways, spending over $100K on something that, at the end of the day still only tells you the time is a gross extravagance. I just returned from a business trip to New Delhi, and for those of you who have been there, you'll know exactly what I mean.
When I bought my 5970, the 100K factor really made itself strongly felt. In some ways it overwhelmed the experience of ownership. That's a very nice watch, you will decide if it is worth the expense. Then, if worth it, if you can relax while wearing it! (Some can, some can't.) It's not the same as 30, 40, 50K is it... Congrats.
India is a beautiful country. But something like 80% of the population survive on $1 a week. In that context a 5970 seemed extravagant. I'm sorry, I didn't want to sound political, it was just the timing between returning from my trip and collecting the watch. Thank you all for your well wishes.
It's a watch for every day and every occasion. I feel as happy wearing it at weekends in jeans and a t-shirt as I do to a formal function in a suit. It successfully manages (as other people have noted) to blend a vintage style and a modern look together without compromise. All this makes it a very difficult watch to take off. My only concern is knocking it/scratching it in the street. But over time I have learned to keep my left wrist out of harms way.
