Patek Philippe

Hi I'm new to the forum and am interested in feedback from owners of the 5960P. I recently placed an order for one at my local AD, but have done so without ever actually experiencing the watch in the metal. Not sure whether this was a foolish move on my part, but I really like the look of the watch from photos and it just seems like good value considering the platinum case and the complications on offer. My dream PP's are 3970, 5004 & 5016 in platinum, but won't be able to afford any of those any time soon. I'm looking to the 5960 as my everyday watch as it seems to have a very practical specification and despite 'only' having an annual calendar seems in the 'number of parts' stakes at least to have a lot of the more 'complex' Pateks beaten. Wondering if anybody out there has experience of owning a 5960 and can give me some feedback?? Cheers Graeme

I think the 5960 looks much nicer in metal than in photos.  It is, however, a thick, heavy watch with the platinum case, but remember that a lot is going on inside the case.

You can wear it every day as it has a great casual look.  I like the brown strap although others have switched it out for a different color.

You will enjoy this watch.

Thanks for the info. I am also unsure about the brown strap - I'm guessing it's an easy matter to change it out for a black one... As for the bulk of the watch - my current most worn watch is a Rolex Sea Dweller, which is also fairly substantial - I imagine the 5960 is a similar proposition in size/weight terms??

Yes, it is easy....actually pretty easy (and cheap) while using just Photoshop.

Yes I think the pictures probably confirm that a black strap is the way forward. Probably best to give the brown one a chance though - you never know how things may grow on you. Do any of you guys know where I can actually see a 5960 in the flesh?? Do you think the Patek Salon in London might have one?

Patek Salon in London will have one.
I was there 2 months ago and although the folks there were super nice, they less than 1/2 the number
of Pateks on hand when comparing to my local AD :-(

But if you are in London - it should be pretty easy to see this watch in flesh at secondary
(read 'gray market') stores at or around Bond St. or elswhere in London.


Btw, as far as straps - I also think that the very Dark Gray padded strap with contrast stitching
(like found on 5135 Plat.) would be another good joice for 5960P.

The brown strap is a dark brown and give the watch a very nice casual look.  Black will dress it up.  Navy would probably also look good.

My AD asked me whether I wanted one when it was first introduced and I turned him down as I didn't like what I saw from the pictures and CD that he gave me. However, a couple of months later I saw it in metal and so I called my AD up asking to get one for me. I got it last Feb. and it's so beautiful. I really like it very much it sits well on my wrist much better than my 3970 or 5970.
It's a perfect watch IMO in terms of aesthetics and size.

BTW Zane trust you don't think the 5960 is a better watch than the 3970/5970 - just that it fits your wrist better? ;-)

It fits nicely but yes 3970 is one of the best watches around IMO.

Love mine. Casual and classic at once. Fun and funky. Very heavy, but wears much more comfortably than a platinum dato. My 'brown' strap has a hint of purple.

That dial color is amazing. What is actually made of?

I'm owning my 5960P for already 10 years and wear it with great joy. On a more sporty strap the watch looks fantastic! This watch with the first PP inhouse chronograph movement is a PP milestone 👍🏼

I see that this 17yo thread post was bumped by a new member that just joined today....by since my new friend/5940 enabler, Watchlover42 commented ...... Owned 5960P ....twice. Sold the first one to fund my business almost 10 years ago. Purchased again 3 years ago. Sold it last year and immediately replaced with 5960/1A, which I really like a LOT.
