When a design speaks to you
I took a look this morning at the photos I save during my research sessions.
And I noticed there were three Patek Philippe ref. 2461: I guess this design really speaks to me!
And indeed, I'd be very happy to find a nice example to buy someday.
I couldn't resist adding a fourth example to complete the four precious metals.

angle ? They provide a “magical” viewing aspect to the dial.

Not all, no. But, like you, I think those which have the angle are very appealing.
Rectangular is definitely a shape I like !

In this case I like the movement side best. Very tidy and clean architecture with sensuality.
The 9-90 caliber is wonderful indeed!

I’m a fan of rectangular watches as well
but I find this example rather plain. I’ve never owned a watch with this type of crystal but I wonder if how it handles light would be interesting or annoying over time.
I understand what you find it plain.
But this simplicity is exactly what I like personally. With the little “twist” of the faceted crystal, which I think I would like very much on a daily basis. But I would have to experiment to be sure!

I really like the yellow gold case example but I love the bracelet on the rose gold version.

Those Patek series: in that time cases seemed to embrace the tight and tense shape of Cal. 9-90. I wonder how many have been produced.

These vintage shaped watches speak to me very much also…
And particularly ref 2461 as well as ref 425. They are incredibly classy and charming, this is definitely a watch for connoisseur. As you mention to my knowledge not all were originally delivered by PP with a faceted crystal (plexi actually) but the majority were. This faceted crystal is the small detail that makes a big difference imo. All are nice but for these watches I very prefer colored gold (yellow or rose) rather than white gold or platinum as it brings more flair and highlights the vintage look of the watch.
Talking about beautiful vintage PP shaped watches with faceted crystal, one of my favorite is probably the “Hour Glass” ref 1593 you should have a look at it, it is very classy also…
