Yes I agree the long lugs make the piece wear 'big'.
Similarly I have experience with a Patek 96 which is quoted 30.8mm and, standing on long lugs, wears much 'bigger'. The 96's relatively large crown (of the 12'200 movement) also helps.

Cognac colored Chicago-an shell Cordovan (horsehide) made into a strap by Accurate Form, Japan.
Many thanks for sharing this gem with my forum, Chk -- a reference we definitely don't see often here! ;-) These original, interesting threads from members all over the world are precisely those we like, and I'm glad we are seeing so many recently.
This particular reference is a truly charming and seldom discussed Calatrava, produced for only a few years around the middle of the past century. It can still be acquired at an excellent value in today's market.

Some aspects of these Calatravas are just so refined:
The lug shapes, 'raised' lacquer print on the name & seconds / minute tracks, the durability of a silvered dial against the elements, etc.. I can't fathom how people organized themselves to make these pieces 70 years ago.
Definitely, this is the huge charm of Patek’s vintage world…If Patek has reached such a legendary status as a watchmaker, it is because of its long-standing quality in all aspects of production, including design😉👍 Thanks again for sharing this beauty!
