On my 3941, I noticed that the hand on the date subdial was well-centered on the dial marker at the end of the month, but that the alignment has gradually deviated over the past two weeks. I used the pusher to adjust the date to test the alignment throughout the month. The hand seems to be well-aligned from the 22nd-1st but out of alignment from the 2nd-21st. Has anyone else observed this on their 3940 or other PC? Is this an indication that service is needed?
Welcome to our forum! Unless this issue depends on the angle you took the pictures from, I would definitely hand it over to Patek, especially if it's not been serviced for a while. I'm sure it will come back like new ;-) Cheers.
I had a similar issue where the hand was aligned in one consistent section of the subdial but not the other. What you describe is a symptom of gear teeth being damaged. It needs to go in for service to Patek, only option.
The owe you a free service and repair on this, they sold you a watch with damaged internals. The should be able to send it to Patek and take care of everything for you.
Please note a full service won’t fix the issue, they will need to replace the damaged gear and then any other gear which directly touches it. This is definitely a serious repair of a grand complication.
