Patek Philippe 5320g
Hello!
What can you good people tell me about this watch? I know it had its debut in Basel back in 2017. As things stand today, is the 5320 a “Popular” timepiece?How is it as an actual, practical timekeeper? Has it been well received? I see a bunch of them for sale online ( about 30 or so from all over the world) My local AD may have one available to me in a week or so. I am considering buying the piece, because while I love Patek from years ago, this is a modern perpetual calendar that appears to be VERY easy to read! I am getting old! Do any of you have personal experience with the watch? I would truly appreciate any opinion that anybody has regarding the 5320. It’s a lot of money, and Inwant to make an informed decision. No personal experience, I am sorry to say.
I love this piece. It's a throwback classic. Love the raised 5-minute dots, and the syringe hands. I think I've seen white and off-white dials? The off-white egg shell color completes that vintage vibe. More experienced owners will certainly chime in.

...it most likely changes with the lighting.

So much for your input. I remember when this watch came out a couple of years ago, it was HIGHLY divisive. People really liked the watch or they did not like it at all. Two years ago, I felt that it was as close to a “Classic Perpetual Calendar” as we may ever see done with “Modern Build Quality”. Certainly Patek will make thousands of the 5320. Part of my thought is that if I wear it on a daily basis, and it gets damaged, I will not have harmed an “historic relic” , i.e., a 3348, or a 3450. I look forward to hearing what our community has to say.
As rhetorical as it may sound (and be), in the end I believe it's entirely your call -- first and foremost based on whether something "clicks" when you feel the watch on the wrist.
Having said this, I do like this piece more than not, especially the dial, that I find just stunning in that cream color. It stands out, IMO, among most other Patek PCs, save the 5740.
On the flipside, I'm not particularly into PCs, and while I've noticed a timid increase in interest for this piece, it probably never took off completely. But again, this has been the case with most ACs or PCs (outside the Nautilus line) for many years now, and I'm sure you know that.
In terms of value, you'll probably cut pretty much even with a 5320 today, so this is a fairly neutral factor (notice that the market offers seem rather steadily at a 5 to 10% off with respect to the MSRP). If you go for it, then certainly an AD would be the best choice, and with a reasonable 10% or so off, you would take home a grand complication at a fair price.

That’s pretty cool! I am more of a “Dress Watch “ guy myself, but that change of strap does make a HUGE ( and very interesting )change .

Watch looks amazing with this addition, blends perfectly with the dial.

It’s the Aged Hunter Green leather from the HODINKEE shop. Just keep in mind, you’ll be using a little bit of MacGyvering skills to cut the leather so it can accept the white gold Patek spring bars. Not tough at all but something to consider. I think the results were worth it!
My personal feeling.
I don’t own it but a friend of mine does, so I got to play around with it in real life. It’s a really beautiful watch. The combo of the Arabic numerals, the cream dial and the seringue hands is truly amazing in the art deco case with the beveled lugs. The whole package looks very vintage in a good way. My only criticism is that the movement looks a bit small from the back in that case. I think it’s a very practical time piece with all the indications for the perpetual calendar being very easy to read. In my opinion, the only better way to display calendar indications is Lange’s with the big date window (the date is the most important since you tend to know the month and day without having to look at your watch).
As to popularity, it seems relatively easy to get as the prices on the grey market are at or below retail.
But I think the main thing that should be driving your decision to buy it or not is how it makes you feel when you put it on the wrist. At this level, the only thing that matters is the emotions it gives you. Best of luck in your decision.

It's a great watch ...
... on the wrist. The boxed-form sapphire crystal covering the cream-colored lacquer dial successfully creates the warm vintage look that Patek sought to achieve.

The date in the last pic. This watch had both the 5327 blue the FPJ QP as finalists but I thought the 5320G was so ugly and unusual and so against the purist view (stamped case, lume hands, 40mm) that I had to have it
Go with the heart. That's what I did!
I found one at my local boutique and got to try it on. Took me a while to decide and by the time I had it was done.
Now have one on order should be arriving June or July.
Its very wearable in the sense that it isn't heavy and sits quite flat, which is essential for a daily watch.
Very easy to read and is a sleeper to the general public.
Those are the practical elements.
The looks, wow! Look up the interview that Henry Stern gave about this watch, it was his vision all the way as he wanted to create a modern vintage.
This is a watch I expect to wear a long time and if I do sell at a loss I would consider normal depreciation and it would have been worth it

And i love it ...
I almost left my nautilus in the safe since i have it.
One thing already said, change the strap to something else than the brown one ... blue for me and it works very well !
This makes an half sports / half dressy watch that you can wear every day.
One of the upside is that it is still less visible than a Nautilus today ...

I knew that if I put it out there, some of you would respond. Overall, it sounds like a very positive response to the 5320! In 2017, there was some very negative as well as positive energy being directed at this particular watch. For me personally, the 5320g is the first ( and only) watch of the Thierry Stern era that I really felt I had to have. I have been on the fence for two years but now I am going to do it. I can read the 5320 without having to put on my glasses! I have always loved Patek, but my vintage material has become too difficult for me to read. No fun for Daily Wear. I will post when I get my 5320 from my AD. Should be in about a week.
It wears much smaller then 40mm watch though
I've had a chance to see it in metal in Caribbean a few month ago. It's gorgeous, but a lot of ppl might perceive it as a cheapest PP perpetual, so you gotta "discount" that into your decision.

I have it on the black strap
It looks really big in the photo but actually it wears small for a 40mm since the case is so pleasant and directs your eye to the dial. I love this watch. There have always been about 30 for sale worldwide at any given time but that is to be expected and really of no consequence.
