Patek Philippe

I would like to ask your valuable opinions on the two watches that are currently on my short list:

Patek Nautilus 5990 (Brand New) and Lange Datograph First Generation (Second Hand).

I understand they both are very different in terms of sizes, materials and movements  but currently they are being offered to me in very similar price point. Therefore I would like to hear from all the collectors/experts here about their experiences and stories on these two watches regarding their wearability, value and others issues. Thanks again and looking forward to hear from you. I also posted in Lange section so I can gather both brand's fans comments.

They are very attractive and appeal for different reasons.

As both choices are very different, I would say that you haven't chose already what you really want. You must think about when you'll wear them: what appeals to you, how comfortable it is, how easy it will be to use and wear (everyday or only for special occasions), the style etc...

I would suggest you think about it as it may make the selection easier. Furthermore, you really have to try them both to check the comfort.

But it maybe be helpful if I shared with you what I don't like about each  

Datograph 

- too thick

- quite easily available since it was produced for nearly 15yrs

5990 

- too thick

- The chrono buttons kinda breaks the symmetry of the nautilus case shape

- lacks a running seconds 

- the square portholes with home and local is aesthetically not so pleasing
