Patek Philippe

I had a few incomings recently and thought I would share for your viewing pleasure. I owned a 5970P previously and sold it in a moment of madness, but was pleased to be able to get hold of another! The 5270 vs 5970 debate will rage on for years - for me both models have their merits and I am privileged to be able to own, wear and enjoy examples of both. Celestial thrown in for good measure!

I have a soft spot for the 5970P, I must say. The black dial, the case, these lugs.... A really superb perpetual calendar chrono. One of the finest, for me. 

Lucky you to be able to choose between these 2 icons. As for me I vote for the 5970 but I admit that there is a fierce debate and I'll be glad to see the feedback of our friends here...

I was in a fortunate position to be able to pounce very quickly for the 5270G/R and 5271P when Brexit hit and GBP fell by 15%. The 5970P of course was a different story as it was a used piece, but it just happened to fall into my lap at the same time.
Bruno you may recall I had a 5070P a couple of years ago and I I didn't quite bond with it for reasons I don't really understand. The 5170 (any version) doesn't really excite me sadly. The next PP will need to await a final decision on the Lange Dato Perpetual Tourbillon that I am sorely tempted by. Funds sadly are not unlimited. Maybe you want to give it another try ? Or try with a 5070G which is much easier to find and is a wonderfull one too.
If your mind changed over the years it will be easy to sell the 5070G and hunt for a P ... or keep the G and add a P
5170 isn't that exciting for me neither but if I had a budget which allows me buying watches like you just bought I wouldn't mind adding a 5170. It won't be my top piece
in that collection but imo more than nice and interesting enough to collect
That Lange is GREAT ... but you could also consider the 5370P in that case LOLOLOL
then you'll be my Patek Chronograph hero

If they release a 5204 with 5370/5270 style pushers (i.e. not the piston pushers), I will be all over it!

on Wednesday with 5204P & 5370P. The latter is, in my opinion, superior. The ration between the case and thickness is perfect, the case design is really something and the enamel dial is out from this world...

.......I have only seen the 5370 double sealed thus far, but it does indeed merit further scrutiny.

I am a big fan of PCC from Patek Philippe, especially for what they've been bringing since the 1518 in 1941 and what they represent in watchmaking history.

I must say as Mike mentioned that I'm very closely looking to one and was very near from making my decision 2 or 3 months ago.

It has been 2 years that I've been very closely thinking about 3970, 5970 or 5270 3rd gen.

Different elements to take into account for me: movements, dial decoration, hands, pushers, light reflection of the silver dials, rose gold or white gold (Pt is too heavy for me).

I fianlly came to the conclusion that they all bring something different and are all worth getting and wearing. The thing is: in which circumstances, what color do I like, do I want more or less discretion, what about the Tachy scales, the hands I want but, in the end, what makes the best combination for me as a daily wearer.

I don't think I have fixed my decision though the 5270G 3rd gen has taken the lead (the R was just behind).

I've seen the 5271P's dial and case work and it is fabulous.

Your pictures bring me a lot of pleasure and I'm very glad for you.

Yes until yesterday 3 of them were sealed, but it is heartbreaking to have these just sat in a safe!
Mark - good luck with your ongoing search. I really don't think you can go wrong with any 5270 or 5970 (other than the 2nd series 5270 which are awful IMHO). Each generation and variant brings something exciting to the table. Personally, the 3rd gen of the 5270 is almost perfect for me - the only element that isn't quite perfection is the sub-equator 3 and 9 o'clock dials.

I think you're right mentionning they all bring something new and different. That's why it is so long to choose! And that we should have one of each
