How in many cases BMW doesn’t manage to up the magic when transitioning from sedan to coupe but rather dampen it. Z8 was not as special as the then M5, M8 nowadays less so than the equivalent M5, in M3/M4 the Coupes tended to be a tad heavier and not as precise, the Z4 less good than the equivalent M3 and many current Coupes heavier, too 🤷🏻♂️

Depending on which configuration you prefer, one could well call BMW coupes the 'bane' of the company.... Nowadays though, perhaps ironically, the only car they make that remotely tickles my fancy is the M2 Competition........
That one leaves me cold for instance 😊🤷🏻♂️
The chainsaw massacre design does not appeal and in terms of mechanics and dynamics I find it more a M3/M4 minis rather than a distillation of the concept into a higher sphere 🤷🏻♂️
The fact that it performs indifferently in tests is neither here nor there but I found previous iterations of the M2 / 1M more convincing.

Had an E46 M3 over 20 years ago, and I still miss it.
Owned a bunch of cars since, and none got under my skin like the E46 did.
I have had two: very different cars and both spectacular driving machines. The E46 just pips it for me.
