Lease on my 2017 GTI is due. Have to hand the keys back to VW tomorrow. It's been a great car, lots of fun memories with it including some fantastic road trips. The radar cruise control with lane keep assist changed highway driving forever for me.
The only issues have been some electrical hiccups, on occasion the reverse camera would come out but the screen would just be black or the infotainment system wouldn't turn on when the car did. All in all, a joy to drive and own.
Austerity... The wife and I are newly married (1 year) and looking for a home in the next 6 months to 1 year. We'll be down to one car just to keep the cash we've saved for the down payment on the home and any car payments from negatively impacting our ability to borrow from the bank. Real estate market in Toronto has been crazy over a decade of 15%+ annual price increases, so just happy we should be able to get something we'll like if we're diligent in this next little while. After the house has been sorted, hoping the next car takes me into 300+ hp territory. Still young (32) so plenty of time for future toys.
Love the GTI! I have a 2017 GTI Sport and absolutely love it. While I purchased my car, I am waiting for the digital dash to enter more mtrims/models and then will try to make a switch

I would like to recommend a Golf R if that is in the cards. I drove the last generation and can only say good things.
