Bulgari

Bulgari has just announced the new Special Edition Carbon Gold Watch.  This new watch is made to commemorate the historical BVLGARI boutique in Rome at Via dei Condotti 10. 
I have limited information but the BVLGARI-BVLGARI Carbon Gold has an updated 40mm sized case in stainless steel and carbon fiber.  The caseback is transparent and is fitted with a mechanical automatic movement with 42 hour power reserve. 

The side of the case has a metal plaque engraved with the year of the foundation of Bulgari in 1884:

The case is made of steel and carbon fiber.  The original Carbongold debuted in 2005 and was a limited edition BVLGARI-BVLGARI chronograph with a similar carbon fiber case and either yellow, white or pink gold details.  IIRC, the reasonable price point, LE status and clean lines made it an instant hit and was sold out immediately.  I'll check with my sources at Bulgari to see if I can get more information about the case materials.

I remember seeing one during the grand opening of the Bulgari boutique in Las Vegas last December, but either it was only a display or someone bought it because I didn't see it on my recent visit.

IMO, the 40mm size is a good choice as it will appeal to many watch enthusiasts, not too big, not too small.  I wonder if they offer a bracelet?

What movt is inside this watch?

Also, i still fail to see which part of the watch is "gold" or how is this word used in this watch.

It's on a buckle of carbon and the pin is white rhodium.

To those curious about where the "gold" in the name comes into play, the crown and date plate are white gold.

It needs to be seen in person- too difficult to pass up at this price point!

Just tried it on at the Bulgari boutique in Kuala Lumpur.
Its very light, movt quite nicely finished and cost half the price of the SS version w/ croc strap.

Its a watch to seriously consider.

The crown and plaque while looking in the shop kinda looks yellow gold but cant be sure with so many lights.

In the Bulgari boutique in Kuala Lumpur the strap was smooth calf leather but from the pics above looks to be croc or croc grain calf?

Does the strap equipped with the strap change from country to country?

Thanks for sharing your experience at the Bulgari boutique in Kuala Lumpur.  Very cool that you got to see the Carbongold.  Interesting observation that the production strap is croc instead of calf.   Which strap do you think looks better?

I just got back home from being out of town, so now I can try to answer some more questions!

This is my second Bulgari watch, and was just recently purchased. I can highly recommend the Chicago boutique.
The standard strap is calf, but I purchased the croc because I really preferred the look.
The movement is the B77 which has been seen previously.

I had one of these watches on hold at the NY Fifth Avenue store for pick up tomorrow (Friday August 20th). However, yesterday my sales associate called to say that their stock of Carbongolds have to go back to the workshop for "modifications". No additional details were given -  only that the watches should be back in the store in 2-3 weeks. I happen to walk by the store last night and they've removed the display model from their window. Has anyone else heard of this?

Welcome to the Bulgari forum!  Very cool that you reserved one of the Carbongold watches.  Sorry to hear about the delay, I haven't heard about the modifications and AD's/Boutiques having to send the watches back.  Maybe someone at Bulgari saw theoroll's post with his croc strap replacement and wanted to upgrade the existing pieces? :P 
Hopefully Bulgari can deliver you new watch soon.  Is this your first Bulgari?   Let us know when you get it
