however, as you say, it suits the watch perfectly. much better than a thin 16mm NATO. it gives the watch more body.

these watches are easy to find and very cheap as long as your not looking for an early one or a specific year. there are loads from 69-73 out there. a nice quality hacking handwind movement inside that keeps pretty good time. what more can anyone want ? (ok, gold, platinum, moonphase, etc etc, but you know what i mean   )

i was lucky with the strap which finishes it off nicely. gets some pennies out, theres a Benrus with your name on it somewhere and pennies are all you need.

as for your new new shipment, if you dont show and tell how can we say how nice it is ??

Nice to see  a new one in the watchbox.    Not so many pre Vietnam ones out there.

Here a new Benrus in my box -  Dial O Rama - late 50s  - not the one I wrote you about, but a fixer upper bargain from the UK.  The star is a seconds wheel which is not working right now, but does not detract from the appearance of the entirely original watch.

this nice 1/2 golfball example would fit nicely into my unusual display theme so i must give them consideration. is the second rotation an easy fix or will you leave it as it is ? i dont think it matters if it doesnt rotate, most people wouldnt know that it was supposed to.

The star display (very flat crystal) actually suits my wrist better - Eric has been wearing the chevron.   The problem with these watches is that I find the minutes  hard to read with older eyes, so they are likely to leave my watchbox sooner rather than later, perhaps in trade.   Nothing measures up to your Wittnauer futurama (is that the name).    However, I do have a  Yema handwind alternate display incoming...

I have reason to hope about the Benrus.   There are few active watchmakers in my area who have the skills and desire to work on older non premium watches.   But today I visited a semi retired gentleman  to pick up  my Bulova alarm - the earlier Junghans movement - and not only did he do a good job at a good price but he has a supplier of old parts.   He seems to find it amusing to work on these and to chat with me, so I will see how long his patience and eyesight last!
