Lange PLM Events - Part 2: Lange Owners' Club Japan Lunch on Friday, 14th
The display
Big model of the chain
Will show the demonstration later
Look at the door - as always, very Lange event
Nice.
Herr
Walter Lange - Mr. Schmid told us that Mr. Lange was so sorry that he
can't come to travel and come to his beloved country, Japan.
Some of the displayed pieces
=================================================
Now the lunch starts - Mr. Kesselmann
Mr. Schmid to the members of Lange Owners Club Japan
And now, Mr. Peter Chong talked about PLM.
One copy was given to the LOC Japan. Thank you!
Full of interesting story in the book. For example, even the auction house data on the number of each ref.
# of the first PLM are wrong and this book shows the correct information. All the data
were collected at Glashutte, but they had been scattered here and there - made him
stay there for two months and then, a year and a half of dedication to complete the
book (he even quit his job to focus on the project). Amazing that all the photo of
the book, I mean all, were taken by Mr. Chong himself.
============================================
And today's lunch
Sorry, only Japanese.... But seeing is believing anyway....
You see the "fusee-and-chain" shaped thing on the left?

Mr. Chong and Mr. Arnd Einhorn, Director Press and Public Relations behind him
==================================================================
Okay, now the pics with better equipment. Did my best, but can't beat Mr. Chong's book!
The first PLM - WG, WD, BH: my droooooling watch. Do you know how many of this were made?
Tourbographe
And the more recent RL PLM - Stephen's "King"
The most recent model - RL Tourbillon PLM
A trivia from the book: the red "30" position was move 0.1mm from the prototype to the actual production model. Sooo detailed and anal, in a good sense.
====================================================
Here are the wrist shots of the Club members.
A rare color MOP dial in PT case.
Changes color dramatically depending on the light.
Mr. Schmid
Mr. Chong taking Lange 1 Tourbillon in HG of the lady sitting next to him.
On a gentleman's left wrist while on the right wrist was something else (later)
THE original Lange 1 Tourbillon in PG
Oh, my brother!
Umnn, this is actually his wife's...
Very pretty Little Lange 1 Darth on a lady's wrist
AND THIS!
This
is not display model or dealers piece. He took delivery just today
(thus got late for this lunch!) and this is the first time for all,
including Mr. Schmidt, to see it in the wild. Huge Congrats!
The owner generously let me take a few pics of his just delivered masterpiece
Rivalry?
=============================
Non-Langes:
And who was wearing his wife's Lange - his RM fitted with pink strap and therefore she was wearing this most of the time.
This is the one on the right wrist of the gentleman whose left wrist had HG Lange 1 Tourbillon
==================================================
Now the time for today's demonstration
See how small each part of the chain is?
That is it. Thank you for reading through this lengthy post.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did the lunch GTG.
Many
thanks to Mr. Schmid, Mr. Einhorn and Lange Uhren team as well as Mr.
Kesselmann and Lange Japan team. Wonderful hospitality and detailed
preparation, as always. And lastly, but not the least, thank you, Mr. Chong
for your wonderful effort of authoring such the wealth of information
and making a trip to Japan. Hope you are enjoying your little trip to the
foliage area now
Please read on to the Addendum, the last of the series.
Best,
Ken
