My audio tube equipment requires 30 Min to heat up (with music) before it sounds right and about an hour for it to sound really great; but after 5 hours it must be shut down and allowed to cool off for30 Min before being fired up again.
Almost all new audio equipment requires a "burn-in" or break-tin time which can be up to several hundred hours!
Even connecting cables can use several days (for silver) - which is where transistorized amplifiers come in handy.
When running an audio shop, even more than at home, it is essential to write down these timings for doing meaningful comparisons on well-seasoned equipment.
So where does that leave me? With a Milgauss without a chronograph! I would never think of getting really close to loudspeakers wearing a Lange or any other fine watch.
As for doing any kind of cooking operation, it depends upon the cuisine one is preparing, and how much one cares to rely on kitchen electronics and how well one can stand alarm noises going off (I can't). However, once a pot is boiilng, or rather simmering, and no longer requires frequent stirring - for an hour or so, it is nice and convenient to go to another room, shut the door, and keep an eye on the chrono.
Which reminds me, it has been a long time since I made an Irish Stew.

I thought you were a dealer yourself....
I don't care much whether they hold the production or not, but if you do, you can call Lange USA. That's the only way to "confirm". If they don't confirm, there would be few other ways. What AD says is almost the same as "rumor". But, pre-determined limited time suspension sounds more like "inventory adjustment". To my eyes, there are still more than PLENTY around in the market. You will find out if you want one and post WTB ad. Don't get me wrong. I love Dato and have owned one. I don't care much about this rumor just because I have already owned one. I am a Lange fanatic.
Having said that, I would be much interested in the "new" or special version, or next generation of Datograph soon

I heard about this too
from a local AD but more like a reduction in production peices. Same also applies to the RL Plat in particular. But the Datographs are aplenty here!
I welcome a revision too, there's one coming, with a slimmer case (like theh 1815 chrono's), and rid the lumi hands.

Is the source of your rumor about the new thinner Dato with non lumi hands reliable? Even though I just bought one in March, I would love one without those useless lumi hands. Any word on the timing of the release? Does any one out there know?

when I missed out the ' if ' before the ....there's revision... it should be read as if there's a revision.... as my statement meant o follow a rumor, which it is a rumor still.
So IF they rid the lume hands and come up with a slimmer case, and perhaps a less busy dial, it would be a welcome revision for me.

I wonder about Lange's sales, given recent management changes and the economy, now this

I don't know whether the Datograph is currently being produced or not, but I did hear before that Lange tends to produce the watches in cycles. So it would not be unusual for production of a particular model to be suspended for a period of time, it just means that it will be more difficult to get a hold of that model for a few months.
I'd guess that with Lange's limited production resources, they may have shifted their watchmakers to production of the Zeitwerk or the Lange 1 Daymatic, or perhaps another novelty that will be presented at SIHH.
