Breguet

I was talking to a jeweler yesterday and he stated that Breguet watches were not handmade from beginning to end by the same watchmaker.  He stated that Patek Phillipe was the only watch that is built from begining to finish by the same watchmaker.  From my understanding I stated to him that this was not true.  Feedback is appreciated.

I visited Blancpain's "Farm House" last spring and what I saw, did not support that claim. So I would say in a polite way that the stories and reality do not much meet. I.e. in the case of the "Farm House": anybody who knows how many units BB is producing must understand that this "production facility" has very little to do with real production...

I have never heard that anybody would claim that in the case of PP one watch maker would make the watch from the beginning to the end. However, that might well bew the case of the final assembly of the movement.

That might be the case but personally I do not believe it.

Because of my work I have visited a lot of different industrial facilities and my impression about the "Farm" was that it is a very sophisticated Show Room. Anyhow, where ever the watches are produced is not important. It was very interesting to see the Farm House and still, Blancpain is producing some quite interesting watches.

I should do it. I took quite a lot of nice pictures and saw a lot of nice watches. It was a very interesting visit but still I decided after that visit that my future Minute Repeater is either JLC; PP or VC.

Some things were too artifical in the Farm House. Like one lady assembling one Fifty Fathoms. It was a show for the visitors rather real manufacturing. However, the few people there were real even most of the watchmaker's benches were empty.

So, if you are looking for a minute repeater elsewhere, I assume that the visit left you somehow
dissatisfied....

I also visited a manufacture recently and there were empty benches... on the other hand they produce a lot less watches....

ps. on a minute repeater I would do a lot of research in order not to make a mistake considering the money involved...

Been around a few watches. Will have to second the vote on JLC. Good luck beating the sound, history, design, engineering, best all around package. IMHO. I know people get there identity by the watch they wear so I'm not trying to offend anyone. Bust I must chant JLC they show off because they can.

.... Otherwise, it doesn't make sense. I suppose we are talking about complicated pieces only.
But does it really matter?

IMO, its a marketing trick that is supposed to make you feel that you are getting something precious because just one person gave it all its attention and care
Personally, i wouldn't mind have a team of specialist handling my futur watch...
