Hi Breguet lovers,
I am currently deciding between two watches I really like.
The Breguet XX Transatlantique and the AP Millenary Chronograph, both are chronograph
Both chronograph, both around 40 mm
The AP is white dial with blue arabic numbers
The Breguet is black dial with a lot of history
Any insights why I should buy one over the other is helpful ? movement, finishing, quality, resale value, etc ...
Thank you
Hello!
Lovely choices both, but the Millenary Chrono is new for this year and as much as the oval case is alluring, it is a lot of money that could potentially be spent better elsewhere....do you think you will tire of the case style? If not, then tow very different watches with one thing in common; both from master watch houses.
You know the movements will be superior, Breguet's steel case is stunning while AP's combo of polished & brushed effect is a pleasure to feel & view.
Millenary far more contemporary and as yet untested against the fad/classic argument, while Breguet's Type XX is a classic without question.
My personal choice would be the Breguet as the Millenary has not done anything for me, but if you feel something a bit more jazzy & fashionable is due yet not compromising on quality, then the Millenary is the way forward. Not much in rease value for either here, as Type XX's are around & the Millenary Chrono is too new to gauge true value.
I hope that helps,
All the best,
Young
The Breguet XX Transatlantique is more dressy and classic than the AP Millenary Chronograph. I sometimes wear my wife's Transatlantique and the only qualm I have about it is the crown is too small. Makes it very difficult to manually wind the watch when I have to (yes I know it's an automatic). Size is 39mm.
The new AP Millenary Chronograph comes in a 47x42mm case, so it's larger than your mentioned 40mm. Much more sporty and flashy when compared to the Transatlantique.
Both have solid casebacks.
Cheers,
Anthony
