I came across a very nice Breguet Aeronavale on stainless steel bracelet without boxes and papers that I am trying to date. I have an email into Breguet but I thought I'd check here to see if anyone can help. I know the newer Aeronavales have a reference number of 3800. However, the one I am looking at has a 3300 reference number. The owner tends to think it is from the 1980's but I thought the Aeronavale was reintroduced in the early to mid 1990's. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks....Mark
To my kowledge, the automatic Type XX was introduced around 1994 in the Aeronavale version and was indeed the Ref. 3800. The earlier, manual wind Type XXs may have been manufactured into the '80s, but they were almost certainly NOT on steel bracelets and NOT called Ref. 3300. There was a reference 3300 Breguet, but I'm pretty sure it was a Classique 3-hands automatic with date and a Jaeger 889 movement. Some portion of the story you're being told does not hold water IMHO.
You are absolutely right John. Breguet got back to me within a few days and dated the watch to the late 1990's. I appreciate your response and will post pictures once I get the watch in my hands!
