Tradition 7037,comments welcome!
Howdy folks,
Had an long itchiness in my mind for this piece in wg.Long since they 1st intriduce 7027 in yg abd i had predicted to my AD that they will show up one in automatic in no time.I was right!the consecutive year they launch 7037.
Some folks here,dislike the big/wired rotor at the back of the see thru case.Beside this comment,do you see any other weakness/reason to dislike this watch?Or you have good experince or any other related comments,all are welcome come.....before i pull my trigger!

I am one of those who dislike the watch
The rotor is a clumsy and tacky attempt at recreating the look of the hammer automatic winding found in the old Breguet pocket watches. Also the automatic winding makes the watch slightly thicker than the original La Tradition which is a drawback.
While I like the first La Tradition very much, the white gold version and automatic version leave me cold.

I really dont know.By the guess from the the only that's yours feedback,i guess there should be draw-back to this watch.
Personnally,i handled the watch last week,well everything seems alrite!
The rotor at the back, you mentioned copying the old watch,i find it interesting compare to those all time normal rotor,it is something different.When i put the watch on my wrist it feel ok,the little additional height from the original Tradition seems acceptable.
On the white gold and yellow gold,this i must say is very personnal.I have lots of yellow/rose gold watches,and i love especially rose gold.So i must say here actually i have "gold" preference more when comes for selection of metal.But in this particular case,i find La Tradition is not only the case of the watch in yellow gold but nearly everything accept the balance,hour,minute hand and the mini dial for the hour/minute hand not in gold the rest of the appearance of the watch is in gold.Again this is very personnal,here i find it over striking!Nothing when comes to the contrast of the watch.As if you are waring just a piece of gold plate on your wrist.
I see,white gold,gives a more friendly approach.And the most important it speaks not too loud.
They claimed that this special rotor/winding system is specially created for this Automatic La Tradition,A wearer just need to put on the watch for a mere few minutes(may ba 10/20 minutes),it will automatically wind up for 60 hour power reserve.Heard about it?Please correct me if i am wrong.This is the only special part that attract me on the technicallity of this watch.

I can't remember if there is anything different about the
automatic winding of the La Tradition but even if there were, I just don't like
the way the rotor has been executed. :-)

You are right about the white gold, it does not look as
loud as the yellow gold version. But I feel the white gold version is too
non-traditional, and the open face of the watch does not lend itself well to
white gold because the watch is classical in feel and style; I feel it works
best in yellow gold which is a softer colour, silver is a bit too harsh and
metallic.

There are some very efficient automatic winding mechanisms out there, but none of them to my knowledge defy the laws of physics. It's not possible for an automatic winding mechanism to fully charge a 60 hour power reserve after only 10-20 minutes on the wrist unless you're doing jumping-jacks the whole time.

This winding mechanism was a vast improvement of Perrelets's first perpetual wnding mechanism.This improve system ,the mass that charged the main spring was shifted to the and of a lever and pivoted on the edge of the base plate.It kept balance using a spring and wound with the slightest movement.It was said in the Revolution Vol.2 magazine,that this system is so effective that could charge a mainspring with 60 hours of power reserve in 10 minutes of wear.
So,there is some fact about it.i do not think its just another of those Marketing gimmick.I would be glad if you are able to find out more about this for me.

Those claims sound a little fantastic as well as slightly meaningless (10 minutes of jumping jacks is different than 10 minutes or "normal" wear (whatever that is)).
There are clear cut physical limitations to how much torque can be generated by a rotating mass, how much torque is required to wind a mainspring and how how many times the rotation of one must be stepped down to result in the rotation of the other. The only thing left up for grabs to the engineers is the efficiency of this translation of energy and especially the switching mechanism (if bi-directional). There are no miracles in watchmaking I'm afraid.
