Description

The Patek Philippe 5565A is a rare Patek Philippe timepiece that was announced in 2006.  Only 300 models were made for the celebration of the reopening of the Patek Philippe boutique in Geneva.  This timepiece is offered for sale from the original owner who has owned the piece since 2006.

The watch dial features a two toned silver dial with black Arabic applied numerals.  The hands are syringe shaped, uncommonly seen on Patek Philippe timepieces.  Also, the crown is fairly large, allowing for easy manual winding, the crown is also of an unusual design for Patek Philippe.

The watch is a rare watch and is a favorite among many Patek Philippe aficionados.  Hank Edelman, Patek Philippe USA Chairman, sports a 5565A as his daily timepiece.

This significant timepiece is offered from its original owner and is completely unused.  The timepiece is in NEW condition, as it has never been used and has been stored in a dry climate.  The timepiece comes complete with a specific box, a commemorative medal, and papers.

Only 300 pieces of the 5565A were ever produced, this is one of the finest time-only references from the Patek Philippe maison in recent history.  The 5565A is a refreshing piece of Patek Philippe history, it’s not overly formal making it equally at home in casual and formal situations.

Condition:  Watch is in NEW condition, and has never been worn.  Watch has never been polished.  No case damage, never dropped, watch runs well.  Sapphire crystal has no chips nor scratches and is in NEW condition.  The bezel is in NEW condition and shows the watch was never polished.  Strap and clasp are in NEW condition zero wear.

Provenance: Timepiece was purchased at Geneva boutique by a long-time Patek Philippe client.  The watch has been unused since and has been kept in a dry environment.

📖 About This Reference

The Patek Philippe Calatrava reference 5565A-001 is a limited edition timepiece launched in 2006 to commemorate the opening of the brand's Geneva boutique. This specific reference stands out within the Calatrava collection for its use of stainless steel, a material less commonly seen in the core Calatrava line, particularly for special editions. Its introduction marked a notable event in the brand's retail history and offered collectors a distinctive variant of the classic Calatrava design. The 5565A-001 features a round stainless steel case. It is powered by the manual-wind caliber 215 PS, a movement known for its slim profile and reliability. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal, protecting a dial that maintains the understated aesthetic characteristic of the Calatrava series. The design emphasizes legibility and a refined presence, consistent with the model's heritage. As a limited edition of 300 pieces, the 5565A-001 appeals to collectors interested in Patek Philippe's special releases and those who appreciate the brand's more accessible, yet still exclusive, steel offerings. Its commemorative nature and limited production contribute to its collectibility, positioning it as a specific point of interest within the broader Calatrava family and the brand's modern history.

Patek Philippe 5565 A.
Some pictures I could take of this Calatrava in Steel issued in 2006 for the opening of the Geneva Salon, if my memory serves me well. Strangely, this one let me cold. I had the same feeling when I discovered the first press files photos at the time of its unveiling. I much preferred the 5105P. You?

Got the 5565 out today...
The watch was released as a limited edition of 300 in 2006 in celebration of the newly opened boutique (at the time) in Geneva on Rue de Rhone. On the rear of the stainless steel watch is a delicate engraving of the building with the commemorative description; “1839 – 1892 – 2006.” A lot of history

Wow....
Spotted this picture recently and felt the urge to share here among fellow enthusiasts. This is such a beauty in my opinion. Yes there are many stellar variants of the the 565 but this one speaks to me in many ways. Hope some you agree.... what a spectacular piece! Picture credit :

Patek 5522 Pilots watch
I’ve been following the 5522 in the markets since launch and values have now exceeded double retail price. I personally don’t get it - 600 pieces is not particularly limited, the design is more Zenith than anything else, and it’s an off the shelf PP movement. Is it a bubble waiting to burst or an in

Patek Philippe Reference 5196P - one to consider?
I have a passion for vintage Calatrava. I didn’t start out aiming to build up a collection of such pieces, but it did evolve into a collection. Over the course of this year, I have reviewed several in my collection. My collection, overall, is about half vintage and half modern (i.e 1990s onwards). I
