Description

An incredibly beautiful watch especially in RG with this wonderfully mellow patina. Absolutely mint condition, not a mark on it anywhere. Completely serviced about 2 years ago by Patek, it hasn't been worn since, so it looks brand new and runs flawlessly. The original winding box has been completely refurbished by Patek within the past year. All papers, winder, service receipts, and box included. If you're seeking this watch, you won't do any better than this one. My price is $54,500 shipped in the States. I'm a long-time Purist and have many global references. Thanks for looking.

📖 About This Reference

The Patek Philippe Reference 5059 is a perpetual calendar wristwatch featuring a retrograde date display. It is notable for its officer's style case, which includes a hinged dust cover over the sapphire case back, a design element that harks back to historical pocket watches and early wristwatches. This reference was part of Patek Philippe's offerings that showcased complex calendar mechanisms without additional grand complications such as minute repeaters or tourbillons, positioning it as a sophisticated yet focused horological instrument. This particular reference is housed in an 18k yellow gold case measuring 36mm in diameter. The case features a polished finish and the distinctive hinged back. Powering the watch is the self-winding caliber 315 S QR, a movement known for its reliability and the integration of the perpetual calendar with retrograde date. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal on both the front and the display back, offering a view of the finely finished movement. For collectors, the Reference 5059 represents a significant example of Patek Philippe's perpetual calendar tradition, particularly due to its officer's case design. This feature distinguishes it from other perpetual calendar models of its era that typically featured solid or standard display backs. The retrograde date function adds a visual dynamic to the dial, appealing to those who appreciate mechanical ingenuity and classic design cues in a complicated wristwatch.

Back to basics!
With the mania around sport watches in general, and the hysteria around the Tiffany pieces reaching a fewer pitch, let's take a step back a look at what Patek Philippe really is known for: timeless and understated elegance and top quality. A good example of timeless elegance is the simple Calatrava

Dear all purists, I’m saving for my next Patek purchase and would like to hear your advises...
I’m struggling between which of the following I should acquire. 5059R 3940J 5056P Their current market prices are kind of similar (well, less for 5056P since it’s an annual calendar not a perpetual). It’s very tempting for me to be able to own a Grand Complication from Patek (I believe it’s normal )

Which Perpetual should I “upgrade’ to? 5059 or 3940?
Dear all, What would you suggest if I want to upgrade my 5035G to a Perpetual? I’m thinking of 5059 and 3940 as both of them fit my wrist almost perfectly and the prices are relatively affordable. Anyone can share their experience of these pieces? I DON’T need a Perpetual but I think it would be rea

Hi All, I always loved watches for their technical aspects and as something you can wear on a daily basis ever since I was young. However, I only started really appreciating the beauty, workmanship and details that can make or break a watch. Also being female, in a predominantly male dominated passi
