Description

FS: This 2002 Special Edition is a remarkable and rare watch - number 30 of 35 watches in total. If you are a serious Panerai collector (or rare chronograph collector) you probably know this watch: it is a "grail" watch for the discerning Panerai collector. Sensibly sized at 42mm, 18K rose gold, and recently (in 2014) fully restored by Panerai in Europe at a cost of over $4000. It is powered by a Venus 185, one of the classic vintage rattrapante movements - fully upgraded to high horology standards by Panerai. The finish on the movement is stunning. It has ALL original paperwork, certificates, boxes, and tags. It was sold in 2005 originally, and is in like new condition with a fully serviced movement, new dial and hands, and restored movement with several new parts. It has the original black alligator strap (80% condition) and the rose gold Panerai deployant buckle. I prefer a face-to-face deal in the Los Angeles area, if at all possible, but that's not a deal-breaker. The price for this rare high-grade (vintage movement) rattrapante is $37,500. It was insured by Panerai for $80,000 when shipped back to me. Doing research I found three public auction sales of the PAM 147 reference and they ranged from $37,000 - $42,000. Due to their rarity these hardly ever come up for sale. This is a cool opportunity to acquire a truly historic and high-grade Panerai Special Edition. I have other pics of the paperwork, etc., for serious buyers. I am a collector, not a dealer, and have many references in the watch world.

📖 About This Reference

The PAM147 represents Panerai's split-seconds chronograph offering within the Radiomir collection, housed in a 42mm case size that balances wearability with presence. This reference distinguishes itself through the combination of precious metal construction and the technical complexity of its rattrapante complication. The watch features a white gold case measuring 42mm in diameter, paired with a black dial that provides contrast against the precious metal construction. The split-seconds chronograph function allows for the timing of multiple simultaneous events through its dual chronograph hands mechanism. This reference appeals to collectors seeking both horological complexity and precious metal execution within the Panerai lineup. The combination of white gold case material and split-seconds functionality positions the PAM147 as a technical piece that demonstrates the brand's chronograph capabilities while maintaining the distinctive Radiomir aesthetic proportions.

One movement, two watches: Breilting Duograph Ref 766 / Certina EA Split Seconds Ref 5826.
In the marvelous world of Split Seconds Chronographs, you basically have those who are powered by the Valjoux 55 movement ( see Minerva, for example ) and those who house a Venus 185, such as these two, the Breitling Duograph 766 and the Certina EA. The Breitling 766 was made circa 1944 / 1945, whil

My Favorite Watch Journey
Buying a luxury watch, or any luxury good, is an emotional experience and journey. Here is my favorite scenario: you see a watch for the first time and you immediately fall in love with it. The timing is not right for a purchase so it goes on your “want to have” list right at the top. Perhaps it sta

Astounding service from Chad Warrick in the Beverly Hills boutique and the entire OP team
Just a note to say I experienced the very best service experience I'd ever had with a watch company from Panerai, Chad Warrick in the Beverly Hills boutique, and the team in Switzerland. The only remotely comparable experience I've had was with PP in New York. Chad told me it was the single most com
