AP’s Royal Oak Offshore when first released in 1993 set the records as the world’s most expensive chronograph wristwatch. The design of the watch has become a fusion of futuristic and traditionalist elements. However, the sheer proportion and weight of ROO is not for everyone. In 2001, after careful research, AP came out with a specifically developed rubber compound called “nitrile” which AP found is bounding well with metal, thus the release of this rubber-clad Offshore which features a protective rubber clad bezel and a rubber bracelet with a signature AP deployant clasp. This particular model of ROO introduced a new tapestry motif on dial and is available in white and black dials with Arabic numerals. The watch is fitted AP’s 54 jewels Caliber 2326/2840 which has a rotor in 21K gold oscillating weight segment, rhodium-plated with “Cotes de Geneve” and circular graining decorative patterns. Diameter of the watch is 44mm. The ROO rubber clad while possess all characteristics of the Offshore has reduced substantially the weight of the original Offshore. Also, many like its arrogant good looks, hence this Offshore since it was release has been highly sought after by collectors and AP enthusiasts in Asia and USA.
