The one about AD's knowledge on the products they sell.

Yesterday in walked into an Omega AD asking information about the Alaska Project, and needless to say, they had no clue what I was talking about. They must have thought that I was referring to a wildlife preservation project.

Also, earlier in the previous week in went into another AD, but this time inquiring about a Rolex, and I asked about which watches from the entire range came equiped with the blue parachrom hairspring. He proceded to point at the bezel of the 50th anniversary submariner and told me, "no blue, just green". Hahahaha!!.

I have come to realize that is really difficult to find an AD who has the knowledge and  is as passionate as one when it comes to timepieces. 95% of the dealers that I have walked into are just desperate to push the product they have in the cases regardless of your taste, and interest. Hopefully this is not something that happens to everybody. In the meantime I shall remain happy with the ad's I have shopped at and where they make me feel welcome.

Just my humble opinion.

Best Regards,

Alex

The dividing line . . .

 By: SamJH : June 17th, 2008-03:20
There seems to be a dividing line among WIS: those that buy new watches and those that do not. Those that do are concerned with finding knowledgeable ADs who will help them in their research and in getting other than mundane product. Those that don't see ...
