Omega

Another example of 1940’s Omega with not overly large box. I never saw a special box for the Suverän as I did for the Officer, but both models were specially made for the Swedish market. Both boxes are of the same style, light beige/yellow, brown text, ma...  

and those vintage boxes...I wish manufactures will go back to more reasonably sized boxes. Compare that one with the box of the Omega Trilogy....'nuff said

but I have read the packing costs for some watches can be higher than the cost of the movement used in the watch. Yes, I also wish packaging could be reduced, I see no need for the multiple boxes some watches come with.

....it was surprising just how many people were in favour of teh lavish and huge modern boxes.

....that was one argument used. Also, for many, the size of collection is 1-3 watches, so having a big box poses no issues of storage etc.

The Suverän have a lot of the trades I like in a vintage time only watch and the Swedish connection makes it even more enjoyable for me! Best Blomman

Yes, Omega, Audemars, Patek , IWC all had boxes of normal size. Omega for its chronometres (which in the 40s must have been their best products), only had slightly more luxurious boxes than normal 30mm calibers (see image). But just about the same small s...  

To my understanding these leather boxes are more related to Omega watches from the 1930's. Among others, I have seen ads with this kind of box for the Omega Marine. As for the velvet boxes, I suspect more related to the 1950's. But yes, boxes from all bra... 

Sorry, these velvet boxes were for the Omega Rg's, and production stopped IIRW in 1951. The leather boxes were from the 1940s too, perhaps production started in the 30s and extended in the 40s? I have somewhere an advert and will post it. Best Franco

. . . at least, not related to my vintage Omega collection. They're more of a curiosity than a compulsion personally. That said, I'd love to have the chronometer certificates offered to rg purchasers . . . unfortunately, none of mine came with them. Best,... 

. . . nor any accoutrements other than a few pamphlets. I do use an Omega lanyard at picnics to carry my vintage Brew 102 bottle opener. I'm the guy folks come to to have their bottle of Corona opened. And no, no reported cases of lockjaw . . . yet. ;-) ...
