Nice condition for both case and movement but the dial has clearly been redone and not very well done I might add.

Sorry - but it is an obvious redial, certainly of the inner part of the dial. The word chronometer should be chronometre and in a different font. Plus should be above OMEGA in this type of dials. See below three of my Chronometre Omega with this type of d...

The watch is for sale via a dealer with whom I have had several good experiences - are you saying the the movement photographed is not the movement in the watch for sale?

I'm a complete plonker - I got the images mixed up and this is the movement from the one for sale Sorry - been doing a lot of research this afternoon and got things a bit out of kilter BFN...  

Hi Aroma, I can understand why you have this on the wishlist. On the photo's it seems to be a nice specimen in steel. Looking extremely nice in the engine bay, coachwork and windingcrown very neat. Have seen the spelling 'chronometer' and under the brandn... 

Yes, Its a redial. But so what? If the watch is good as it does seem to be from the pics (apart from redial), I'd still go ahead and buy it to have the dial redone well once again, given the dials are getting pretty shabby on remaining pieces, given the w... 

Omega chronometers with nice dials can still be found, wait for a good original piece. A redial makes no sense to buy.

They come up for sale to be sure but they are becoming harder to find and the ones in nice shape command an equally nice premium. I think if you want one and your budget is limited, you may have to settle for a redial. Of course if your budget allows, the... 

Thanks for all the advice guys - you've helped me to make up my mind. I will leave well alone as I don't want to pay that much for a redialled watch - no matter how rare (in fact that makes it worse for me). So for the time being, I have given up on this ...
