The all-original Tritium dial & hands Seamaster 300 with original "small number" bezel insert...
Attributes: Iconic styling, excellent legibility, large wrist presence at around 42mm...
...and often fitted with virtually identical "Gladiator" hands to those
found on the ultra-valuable Rolex RN MilSub (of course Omega SM 300s
were also RN-issued)...
...as well as an extremely high-grade cal. 550/2 movement.
Perhaps it is the fakes and the ease of sourcing NOS Luminova retrofits
that depresses interest in original period correct SM 300s, but when
you consider that the much more common Rolex equivalent, the civilian
ref. 5513, is tickling 5k USD...
...I can't help but feel that an original Seamaster 300 in good shape
is one of the best bargains still to be had in Vintage Swiss Sports
watches.
Best,
T.
