 By: harrisans : December 18th, 2009-17:50
I am a new member in this prestigious circle and it is hoped, I am welcome. For a start, I am computer-illiterate but I love watches, since several years ago. Kindly advise, has anyone come across an early Omega Constellation in a stainless-steel case but...

Yes, our moderator Bill Sohne owns one . . .

 By: Dr No : December 18th, 2009-22:25
. . . and it's very similar to my Connie but with a white pie-pan dial and white gold hands and markers - you can expect him to post a photo or two shortly. I've also seen another recently, but no photo, unfortunately. Welcome to our forum, and please tel...

Omega Constellation stainless-steel with white gold indices

 By: harrisans : December 19th, 2009-01:11
Hi Thanks for welcoming me and also, the response to my post. Let us hope Bill will post the picture and also, tell us something more about it. I had my first Omega watch, way back in 1963 and it is a 1956 stainless-steel Seamaster Calendar. After the thi...

 By: G99 : December 19th, 2009-06:06
i am a true Omega Addict, not as much as our esteemed moderator who taught me everything i know, more or less, but to the point where i was totalling 100 in the same brand t one time, i'm now down to 10 i think, 8 of which are from 1964 the year of my bir...

Crying in laughter

 By: harrisans : December 19th, 2009-16:50
Hi Thanks for the note to welcome me and I think this is a great arena to be in, especially with people who know about Omega watches, inside out. During my days, there were no books or watch-lovers to guide or direct me. I just picked up any watch (from t...

Harrisans, making a profit is not really the object in this 'game' we play. just ownership for however short or long a period is sufficient to win. a profit is merely a lucky by product of ownership. you need someone to teach you how to upload photographs...

 By: harrisans : December 20th, 2009-04:26
Hi Graham Thanks for your message and it is greatly appreciated. I understand, the love for watches is of paramount importance and making or losing money is not a criteria.  The fun is derived from the appreciation of these master-pieces and also, sa...

A beauty

 By: harrisans : December 19th, 2009-14:42
Hi Thanks for the response. Indeed, your watch is a beauty, especially with the dark back-ground. The imprints and also, the white gold markers, etc, really stand out. Without stripping the watch, how does one tell whether the markers are white gold or st...

An interesting thread

 By: MSNWatch : December 19th, 2009-11:36
You've managed to focus on a pretty uncommon combination - the stainless steel constellation with white gold markers. I like this variant as well and they are difficult to find in original and excellent condition. Achim's variant - original black dial wit...

As rare as a hen's teeth

 By: harrisans : December 19th, 2009-17:17
Hi Thanks for the response. I raise this issue in this forum because I have been trying to look for an answer, for quite some while. There are many Constellations in stainless-steel case but very rarely do I come across one with white gold markers, hands ...

The connies of that era

 By: MSNWatch : December 19th, 2009-18:07
I believe had white gold markers. This was one of the first vintage omegas I got but I sold it before I realized I had a pretty uncommon piece. Here is one of the two I have left in my collection....

Connie with white gold markers

 By: harrisans : December 19th, 2009-19:35
Hi Thanks for participating. You must be one of those lucky ones to own this rare beauty of yesteryear. I am sure there will be admirers, waiting to have this watch on their wrist. Thank you.

A rare combination, and well worth seeking out...

I don't have an Omega version, but rather a fine and rather direct competitor of the day from Longines......

It is puzzling indeed.

 By: harrisans : December 19th, 2009-19:31
Hi Thanks for participating. Indeed, it is a pretty watch and a rare one, too. There are, but not many, Longines Conquest of that era that come with yellow or maybe, even pink gold markers to match the gold cappings on the watch case. It is easy to see th...

I agree with your basic assessment...

 By: Tony C. : December 20th, 2009-09:08
it does seem somewhat incongruous to use white gold markers with a watch cased in steel. I will, however, add two points. The first is that this was apparently done by some Swiss manufactures on occasion during the 1960's. As another example, I offer the ...

Agree, could be a selling point

 By: harrisans : December 20th, 2009-15:14
Hi Thanks for coming back. That IWC is a beauty. I have to agree, it could be a selling point but did not sell. Otherwise, it will not become a rarity today. We shall wait and see what other members have to say. Thank you.

Welcome to the forum...

... Harrisans What an interesting topic and great story you have to tell. I hope to see some of the watches as pictures on the forum one day. BR Hans

A heap of rubbish turns treasure, today

Hi Thanks for the response and also, a note of welcome. This one subject of a stainless steel Constellation that comes with white gold markers has always created a degree of interest in me, in view of its rarity. I have approached and asked some collector...

Rare and Beautiful

 By: harrisans : December 20th, 2009-23:00
Hi Thanks for the response. Surprisingly, not too many collectors know about the existence of this model amidst us. Very likely, a Constellation in stainless steel with white gold markers is rarely seen in the market. By the way, how will one be able to t...

A good and kind advice

 By: harrisans : December 21st, 2009-00:38
Hi Thanks for your kind advice, you lucky collector for being an owner of a rare timepiece. I shall try to spot the difference, based on what you have said. Thank you.

The other clue . . .

 By: Dr No : December 21st, 2009-05:52
. . . would be an absence of corrosion and minimal patina, particularly on the hands. My '56 Longines Conquest heirloom was acquired with another identical model that differed only in having yellow gold markers and hands; that one was lost in a burglary, ...

It's helpful

 By: harrisans : December 21st, 2009-17:07
Hi Thanks for another clue which is indeed helpful. It is rather sad and sickening, when we lost something close to our heart. The loss will be alive in us forever, though. Thank you.
