I think the distinction is different

There's a dividing line between those who just go and buy what's in the mall, and those who want to learn about the purchase.  The research and the thrill of the hunt is a big part of the enjoyment of a new purchase for some, for others it's just wasted effort.  ADs like almost every other retail sector target only the low-hanging fruit and go after the people who walk in wanting to buy.

ADs routinely complain that the enthusiast market almost isn't worth targeting, especially as they tend to either shop around or buy on the internet once they've sampled it in the store and taken up their time.  And enthusisasts like us are admittedly part of the problem - how many times has someone recommenned that a prospective buyer go into an AD to sample but then make a phone call to a "favorite dealer" to purchase?

It's almost pointless to decry AD lack of knowledge even though I wasn't exagerrating even slightly when I said the AD clerk mistook my X-33 for a Timex.  Almost no first-line retial employees in any secrot have more than the barest minimum of knowledge.

The one about AD's knowledge on the products they sell. Yesterday in walked into an Omega AD asking information about the Alaska Project, and needless to say, they had no clue what I was talking about. They must have thought that I was referring to a wild...

The dividing line . . .

There seems to be a dividing line among WIS: those that buy new watches and those that do not. Those that do are concerned with finding knowledgeable ADs who will help them in their research and in getting other than mundane product. Those that don't see ...
