Panerai Out Of Range watches

Apr 29, 2011,07:56 AM

Only started to collect Panerai watches early this year, I am blessed with the following Panerai watches, and they are Pam210, Pam188, Pam366, Pam346, and FER0010 (Scuderia Rattrapante). Pam188, FER0010 & Pam210 carried OOR stamping on the back of the watches. I found out the meaning of OOR from various watch collector friends, and they told me I am lucky to get hold of them.

My question to anyone is that, having these OOR watches, do these watches hold its value higher or better than regular limited edition watches? Some watch dealers told me they are of nothing special but some insisted that I should trade them off for a high price. Honestly, I will want to keep them as long as I could and may even start to collect OOR watches from now on. I hope someone can shed light on this issue for me. BR, Ian

They are Limited Editions of Limited Editions. A pure trick, which is not very honest for tose who got the first edition, presented as " an unique edition ". But it may work for some. To each his own. Best, Nicolas.

Useless to say, I agree 100% and......

consider OORs and SHADOWS part of a "dubious" marketing DNA that Panerai would do very well in.....burying, once and for all.. Ciao - Sergio

For Panerai, base always the best

try for PreA or PreV if you like simple dial and that is the beauty of Panerai IMO Also it will hold its value better HAGWE

For me, OOR watches are no special than the original In Range watches

They are just extra watches made of the original series. I personally place no added value to pieces with the OOR designation but some others do. Cheers, Anthony This message has been edited by AnthonyTsai on 2011-04-29 16:53:02

no special value for me ...

if you like them the better for you, if you pay more for them than the 'normal' value I'd say you payed to much IMO In general these are watches made in a few pieces for exhibitions and personnel of OP, so I don't see any 'added' value, and the OOR on the...

agree with the others...

I dont like it. But having said that, and being fair asnwering your question, we have to admit that OORs are normally priced higher in the second market, and people seems to be ready for paying a premium. That is the truth...even if we dont like it. I per...

Thanks to all your contribution & thoughts about OOR watches. I acquired them without paying any premiums, and IMO they are no difference to limited edition watches. Yes, I have seen on secondhand markets they do fetched a bit higher than regular watches,...

I totally agree with Nico

that OOR pieces are not really fair to the people that bought the original LE. If Panerai can't figure out how many watches they want to make in a limited edition from the beginning then they should not number them at all or just number them 1 out of as m...

I'm not an expert, but

cannot see how it is possible that they would be more valuable than the original production. If anything, I think it is a shameful exercise to produce these when the watch is supposedly a SE or limited production piece. If Panerai does this routinely, the...

It doesn't add anything to the watch...

Some say it shouldn't exist... Although I wouldn't mind if it carries numbers that are meaningful to me... But again it doesn't change anything to the watch... Best, Sam

Nothing special to me

Out of range is definitely not a special to me and I would not pay more on them because they are produced after the normal series for some certain usage. i.e. window display or sth.
