PAM392 or 512
Dear all,
I can't believe that one day I will write something about Panerai.
Since I really felt in love with 2 different models & I have to handle this irresistible force who drags me to the Panerai windows...
I guess that you are more expert than me so I will try my best to read your posts before buying one...
I would like to buy a robust classic watch, 42mm but versatile by playing with straps . A tool watch. So Panerai came out !
The PAM392 was the winner, the crown which is the Panerai DNA , the quick strap release system...A pure energy!
And then I saw the 512 & it was a shock. A pure beauty "with this historical thing with modern components "... A classical style & elegance , not really a tool watch that I was looking for...
It's like falling in love with 2 girls, a brunette & a blondie , in the same time!
And for the moment I can't choose...
So who owns a 512 & 392???

of Panerai auto Luminors do a lot of thing right for the new buyer into the brand: Auto, date, sandwich dial and relatively clean... My beef have always been the thickness..I had a 312 and after a year I move on..I found it top heavy.. you really need to ...

And the case of the 392 is very massive/thick due to the rotor system which is not great... But is it comfortable. I can remember. However the 512 is very dressy & looks delicate. So can we consider this watch as " a tool watch, robust "? Thank you Ch...
PAM512 definitely hands down all the way
Yes it's a smaller 42mm but it's a killer IMO. I'd get the PAM392 as your 2nd Panerai then :) Cheers, Anthony

It seems that I was the only one who was trying to compare them. Who knows maybe one day the 392 will come with a manual movement & will be thinner... It reminds me the discussion that I had with my rolex AD regarding the sea-dweller more than 10 year...
