Missing my GMT

Mar 02, 2009,15:06 PM

I don't have my PAM 89 anymore, but I wish that I did...moved onto different PAM's.  The 89 is Very similar to the 88 but with the anthracite blue/gray dial and in a brushed titanium case.  One of the best Panerai dials IMHO.

I looked online a little more into the "Ocean Chronometer" engraving on the back of the GMT's and in later, more recent models, that engraving has been replaced by Automatic, but certainly are accurate on F series GMT's, whether PAM 88, or PAM 89.  Not sure exactly when they changed the engravings, but the pics of the F series 88 in this post look accurate.  Best of luck and enjoy your purchase should you buy the 88, a great PAM

I'm about ready to purchase this from a local store that has all the boxes, papers, warranty card, etc. Everything seems and looks to be perfect including the price however I was wondering if I can get a 2nd opinion as they even allowed me to take photos ...

Is this PAM88 real?

I don't think I've ever seen "OCEAN CHRONOMETER" on a Panerai caseback before. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. - Anthony...

that's because you never had GMTs before?

I think they stopped engraving that on "J" series, but perhaps as soon as "I". Cheers, Asi

Looks legit

I had an F series PAM 89 GMT that was marked "Ocean Chronometer", I believe the 88 has the same markings. The remainder of the markings look good as well, and 2200 88's were made in the F series

K thanks for the info

I appreciate the feedback as I'm glad I'm getting feedback from someone who has a F Series PAM 88. I hope I will enjoy it as much as you are enjoying yours.

Thanks Nacho for the feedback as that's why I'm posting because I believe this would be the best source. The OP and BB #'s are fine as I know those are legit as it matches the outer sticker on the box and the warranty card but it's the engraving of the F ...
