 By: 0808 : November 16th, 2008-07:42
hi all pam experts...=) i'm new to the pam world and was wondering which is the most sought-after vendome luminor out there? and mostly importantly why (obviously rarity will be one the factors but that is not what i am asking)?...^_+ thanks in advance......

Pam 203, as

It is, with the Rad Pam 21, an interesting hommage to the Past using Vintage movements in both cases... But I prefer the 21... Best. nicolas

let me be more precise...^^

hi nicolas... man, that was fast...=) ok, i meant the 44mm luminors (not including pre-v)..e.g. pam111, pam 112 etc etc... thanks again...=)

PreA9, PreA4,PreA2,PreA1....................................followed by PAM9A,4A,PAM36,PAM40,2A,1A etc, etc..............Best guillermo

203 is not 44mm, Nicolas

If you exclude the PreV's, PAM A's and B's w/ tritrium, then there really isn't any IMO

That's why I hope Panerai makes a killer 44mm Luminor someday which will have the same high collectibility status such as of a PAM21 or PAM203. Will this model ever exist? Shrug and I hope it does! Cheers, Anthony

Well, the question is what do we look for in a 'killer' watch

Dial? We know that T dial are not to be made again PVD/Ceramik? It's happening now as on 26/292 Movement? Compliacation/Function?

Hmm that's a good question. What is a "killer" 44mm Luminor for you all?

 By: AnthonyTsai : November 16th, 2008-18:49
So if Panerai were to make this new model, it would be Luminova dial and several other criteria to distinguish itself from the other 44mm's. For me, a "killer" 44mm Luminor would be: a) In a regular 44mm Luminor case, not the 44mm 1950 Luminor case. b) Do...

Well, the way I see the difficulty

Is that by virtue of 'killer' watch, we're probably talking about old school killer watch because, Panerai, if anything, has been coming up w/ interesting complications/case material/dial configuration, along w/ all these time only pieces that pays hommag...

...

My favorite 44mm Luminor remains the 172 . . .

I respectfully disagree with those who argue that Panerai has not yet made a stellar Vendome 44mm . . . The 172 is, IMHO, the perfect balance of Panerai simplicity with a modern twist: Craig...

production ended when?

 By: 0808 : November 17th, 2008-20:41
do you perhaps have a picture of the caseback? were all the 172s made with painted dials instead of the sandwich?

The 172 was released in 2003,

 By: amanico : November 17th, 2008-23:39
It was a LE of 300 pieces, produced during 3 years ( 100 pikeces per year ). AFAIK, all the 172 were coming with the same dial, and painted indexes. Best. Nicolas

movement finish?
