Nice posts on all the Nicolas Rieussecs!

Thanks Mike for laying them all here including the special editions! I love the NRs but my small wrist can't carry them well. sad Although today I wore my Star Worldtime (42mm) and I thought surely 1mm more won't matter that much?

Purely in terms of dial design (they all have the same case), the 2014 Homage to Nicolas Rieussec will be my favorite even though with a white dial, it looks bigger on my wrist. The grained dial, closer resemblance to the original time writer and "mystery" hour markers all add to the appeal of this newest Rieussec. Plus it is limited edition so even more collectible.

In terms of being able to wear and carry it and also my personal preference for darker dials (for non dress watch) I like the Gen 3 black dial and the Gen 4 Rising Hour. The Gen 4 Rising Hour is extremely unique in its innovation - I don't think any other watch has its Rising day/night Hour feature which I find very cool. The grey dial is also a nice difference to have. Only complaint is it is quite difficult to read the time under low light conditions (the rose gold cream dial Rising Hour is easier to read the time).

Mike I must admit your post got me thinking of either the Rising Hour or Gen3 black dial Nicolas Rieussec again! smile

 Cheers Robin

PS: one of my colleagues got bitten by the Nicolas Rieussec bug and has asked me to help him buy the NR Open Home Time. I have reserved a piece for him from my AD (he is travelling now) and we will collect it soon (will post it when I collect the watch with him)

The Rieussec Chronograph Yearbook!

Looks like a high school yearbook. Which version is the most handsome? My favorites are version #1, 4, and 5. Version 4 pretty much looks like a regulator watch.

I think it is the thickness of the case and the crown design

 By: mkt33 : March 12th, 2014-07:23
that makes wearing the 43mm Rieussec a very different experience compared to your 42mm Star WorldTime. Perhaps the next generation can improve on these two aspects. Thanks for the additional photos... My favorite is Gen 2 and the latest Homage version The...

I didn't realize the Gen2 was so attractive

Until this picture! I usually dont like open dials but this is somehow different. I realize "complicated dark colored dials" on larger watches look "smaller" on my wrist compared to light/white dials that are neater (that's why the Homage looks larger on ...

2nd and 5th generation for me...

Like the skeletonized dial of 2nd and the classical poise of the 5th. Interesting review, Mike!

I think my favorite Rieussec is the 2nd generation
