Some quick pictures and thoughts on the Navy SEALs Alarm

Since I first saw it at the SIHH, in January 2009, I knew that I had to get it.

Why?

Simple:

The link with the Past is obvious:

There is something about the Polaris and the Deep Sea Alarm in this watch, clearly, a kind of reinterpretation of the Past.

I wrote a lot about it, so please refer to my previous posts about that historical point.

To make a long story short, I received my NSA last ...Tuesday.

And my first feeling was weird, in a positive way, don't get me wrong.

When you receive a new watch, you always have a reaction, an excitement due to the novelty.

Here, not.

Because I wrote a lot about this watch, because of its historical link, because...It looked so familiar, to me, that I felt as I always had it in my collection, certainly.

But an immense pleasure to get it ...FINALLY!

I love a lot its " dark " look, the titanium grade 5 case, the black dial bezel.

Of course it is a big watch, with its 44 mm case, and around 15 mm thickness, but it is not too thick nor too big, when tyou see it in real, as it keeps some coherent and well balanced volumes.

The dial is really well thought, with an excellent legibility, thank to big hands, and indexes.

In the dark, the luminosity is awesome.

Another nice detail is these 2 big compressor crowns, which remind you that the watch can be used in all conditions, even with gloves.

If you pay attention, you will notice that when you turn the compressor key, to unscrew the upper crown, the words " Alarm " and " Date " are written, to avoid some wrong manipulations if you want to set the Date or the Alarm, which is unique to this watch.

The co branding with the Navy SEALs is discrete, as the Elite Corps Logo is just engraved on the case back, there is no mention on the dial.

To me, the writing on the dial instead of the etched crystal is not really a big deal, as I own a Deep Sea Alarm US model which also has writings on the dial, so I'm used to.

No, really, I love this watch, its look, the fact that it belongs to this very nice Black Memovox family, its feeling on the wrist, showing a pleasant presence, and the surprising light weight, due to the titanium case.

The only thing I'm not very keen on is the strap...The leather or the Nato.

But I already have some solutions and alternatives in my mind..

smile

Nr 568 says hello to all the other NSA of the Forum!

Best,

Nicolas
