Jaeger-LeCoultre

Reserve de Marche

Hello on a lazy late Summer Sunday…let me tell you a little (or a lot) about one of my favored watches.

The Jaeger Master Control Reserve de Marche.

This watch is referred to in the Jaeger internal Database as the “Master Power Reserve.” The NYC Boutique found this specific watch in its database and kindly extracted some of the information for me. Here is some information in no particular order.

Automatic 1000 Hour Master Control showing Time, Power Reserve (40-44 hours), Date, Seconds. 50 meter water resist

This is 140.8.38.S with an Exhibition (open) back.  Q1488404  Ser: No. 50XX. Serial numbers on the earlier versions were engraved deeply into the outer edge of the watch case. Later (as this example) Jaeger applied the Serial number as a lightly etched 4 digit number. The Boutique confirmed that both styles of SN were used on genuine Jaeger examples.

Later versions with Calibre JLC 938 41 Jewels 28,800 VPH. This calibre Hacks. Earlier examples used 983/1.

Several versions exist including 140.8.93 which has a closed back with a Golden Master Control seal.

Available from about 2002 – 2012. This case size is 37mm, the size may have changed during production. Sometimes referred to as UltraThin (9.3mm)

Dials were mostly often Sunray Brushed Grey with some having a Black dial.

Summary: An uncluttered dial with a Power Reserve indicator, a Date hand in a sub dial, Dauphin Hands, markers for hours except Arabic numbers at 9 and 12. Rhodium plated numerals and hour markers. Lume on Hour dots and hand centers. Second hand in its own sub dial with 4 thin lines but no numbers.

Came with Black or Brown Leather strap and SS Deployant Clasp.

Sorry to go on a bit but I love watch details.
