The watch repairman at my local JLC AD said that magnetization would only make it run slow or fast. He also said that if it winded fine when I wear it on my wrist all day (and it does) then there is no problem with the winder. He did tell me one interesting thing that I'll share with my fellow PuristS: he told me that when you wind one of these 30-40 times and think you have fully wound it, in fact it's only 15-20 winds at that point. What we think is a whole wind is really a 1/2 wind and that it takes 2 winds to make one full turn of the crown, if you see my point. He suggested that if I wind it manually and then do not wear it for a day then it's important to fully wind it as described above and then as we all know, give it a few shakes to get it running. This may help some and be old news to others; that's what it's all about, right? 8>)

This just started happening in the last two days: I can manually wind the watch 30-40 times but then if I just put it down and don't wear it, it stops. Any thoughts?

Well, it can be magnetized

Go to your AD, and show it to him... He will test if in front of you, and if it is magnetized, it will last 10 minutes for him to solve the problem. If not, he will have to send it to the Repair Service... Best. Nicolas

If you wear it, after having wound it 20 or 30 times, it is ok...So this is not the winding system. TRy to wind it 80 times, and we'll know... You're right about the def of " time ", when you turn the crown. That's why I don't count when I wind a watch. L...
