So I couldn't be able to tell you if only PP does it...
Perpetual calendars are not always troublesome to set.
I know at least 3 brands where the PC are easy to set:
Ulysse Nardin: The PC is set by the crown, and can be set backward or forward.
IWC: The PC is set by the crown, too.
JLC: The PC is set by a single pusher : 1 push , one day, all is sychronized.
After, if you want to save money when you service a watch, it is a bit like with watches: Never buy a Ferrari or Aston Martin, go for a Dacia.
Here again, it depends on the brand, as the cost for a service or repair is really different from a brand to another.
If you think about what is worth the extra money,, in terms of complications, then the Chrono is hard to beat.
Much more difficult to realize than a Perpetual Calendar, and less expensive.
Though, I'm not sure you willl have to think about what is worth the money.
It can be a criteria, for sure, but not the very first one, nor the most important, IMO.
Best,
Nicolas
