My first JLC - can less be more ?
Hello all,
My first JLC arrived today, and I thought I would share.
So what's in the box you ask ?
Some hints.
It is not reversible. I can't get the family crest engraved on the back.
It can't tell me the phases of the moon.
It has no chronograph.
It does not have a gently rotating tourbillon cage to admire during boring those moments in meetings.
It is not powered by small variations in atmospheric temperature or pressure.
It can't chime the minutes and hours.
It can't sound an alarm to remind me my parking meter is about to expire.
It does not have a power reserve indicator, multiple time zones, or a perpetual calendar (or any calendar at all).
And the final clue - It has no seconds hand.
Have you guessed what it is yet ?
Yes,
it's a Master Ultra Thin 34mm. Just the time, and nothing else. And I
couldn't be happier. To my mind a near perfect 'simple' watch, with a
really beautiful movement.
Hope you like it ...
And just
so we all understand, I have no objection to watches that do any, or
all, of the things I listed. A truly impressive range of functions
available from one manufacturer.
But sometimes I think less can be more...
