JLC Servicing cost 400 pounds!!!!!!!
Here goes my memovox ( its abt 6 years old) kept making that sound..showed it to local dealers they said rotor loose...so sent it to London Bond Street where I got a quote for 400 pounds to do a full service ...it was serviced abt 2.5 years ago and I have never really knocked it around or anything....I mean does that sound right...im already servicing it but thats a pretty crazy price ...its a 10,000 dollar watch - a service shouldnt cost ten percent of its brand new retail price ...plse advise guys ...

Classic, no worries
This is one of the characteristic of the Cal 918... To stop this noise, you just have to set your Alarm, and to wind just a bit the alarm. So, you will hear no more noise. Best, Nicolas

I like that slight ding sound as I move my hand and wrist too. It's the characteristic of the memovox. After the alarm has thrown/triggered, the hammer isn't locked down (by design or the lack of), and so with even the slightest wrist movement, the hammer...
I am wondering....
what would the sound difference between the ss and the white gold model be.... I would think that the ss sound would be more metalic and crisper.... Any thoughts? Cheers

common noise. it will make that 'clanging' noise for about 30 minutes AFTER the alarm went off.

actually i think they are all wrong. the problem is terminal and........
you should offload it to some mug (like me) before it breaks completely enjoy your great watch, these guys know what they are talking about. i would have been worried too and very reassured by the answers received. best Graham
