Friday musings...
Two years, a box of watches, and a thousand posts later, what's it all about anyway?
Precise chronometry? But a cheap quartz watch keeps better time than our mechanical timepieces. Better yet, use your smart phone.
A status symbol? But we shy away from the garish monstrosities smothered in precious stones. And the most prestigious examples are invisible to the uninitiated.
I think it's all about the experience. When we buy a watch, we are not acquiring a mere object. We bring into our lives a chronicler of memories and milestones.
That pre-owned submariner you bought with your first bonus. The panerai which witnessed the birth of your child. The calatrava passed down from grandpa to your father; it now adorns your wrist, and someday, your son's.
For me, it's this pair of Reversos, His and Hers. They have celebrated anniversaries and birthdays together with my wife and I. Today, they join us for tea.
Have a great weekend friends, and keep enjoying this crazy hobby of ours!
