I also like the silver side more but am fine with the black dial. The only thing would be to make the power reserve indicator white instead of a reflective surface. Overall I am very happy with the purchase.
As for the strap I don't have that problem, I measured my wrist and had the AD order the correct length for me.

problems with watch slipping in the wrist?
i too own a reverso GMT RG, but find that its considerable weight/bulk tends to make it slip or 'rotate' away from me when worn on wrist. Anyone else has this problem? or any solutions for this? personally, i find the pale side of the dial much more aesth...
