An unusual JLC

The National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors had its annual watch mart at the Del Mar Fairgrounds over the weekend. Since I was busy with the Habring2 / Keaton Myrick event, plus car shows, etc etc I had very little time to scan the show. But we squeezed in an hour on Friday afternoon to look at clocks and watches. It wasn't the busiest time, which was ok by me.

These are all 14k and 1k gold Pulsar LED watches and bracelets. No gold rolled or gold plate here; it was the real stuff. Of course, you might ask, WHY? but then look at your own collection and ask WHY?

I talked Seiko and Bulova with these guys ...

Just as they were closing for the day I got to a case with some watches I liked. (luckily I didn't bring any cash, and these guys are mostly cash or check/no credit card type people)

I found this sweet JLC Memovox pocket watch, overhauled, running, buzzing loudly, and in pretty good shape (except in these close-ups)

The back swings open too, so you can use it as a nightstand alarm.

I regretfully said "No cash, maybe tomorrow" which every vendor knows is slim chance or none.

As I walked out I said to my friends as we were walking to the car - "I wish I'd brought more money" - oh my gosh, the $50 and $100 bills came flying out of their wallets and I came home with a watch! smile

Nicolas, can you or anyone else tell me about this version of the Memovox? I can't find anything in a half-dozen searches ...

That looks great - have to take opportunities where you find them. There's always lots to like with an alarm. Enjoy your unexpected acquisition Cheers JML
