I like that slight ding sound as I move my hand and wrist too. It's the characteristic of the memovox. After the alarm has thrown/triggered, the hammer isn't locked down (by design or the lack of), and so with even the slightest wrist movement, the hammer will "kiss" the gong again. Since the alarm is a rather nice metal bell tone, I am actually quite fond of it. It's like wearing a living breathing watch 
If you prefer your memovox to stop making those ding sound after the alarm has been thrown, simply move the alarm time to some time else, and then wind the alarm crown couple turns. That will be enough to lock down the hammer and shut it up.

This is one of the characteristic of the Cal 918... To stop this noise, you just have to set your Alarm, and to wind just a bit the alarm. So, you will hear no more noise. Best, Nicolas

I am wondering....
what would the sound difference between the ss and the white gold model be.... I would think that the ss sound would be more metalic and crisper.... Any thoughts? Cheers

common noise. it will make that 'clanging' noise for about 30 minutes AFTER the alarm went off.

you should offload it to some mug (like me) before it breaks completely enjoy your great watch, these guys know what they are talking about. i would have been worried too and very reassured by the answers received. best Graham
