Great post Dje. So does the new lubrication-free
mean an end to servicing or simply an extension of time between recommend service intervals? If the latter, has JLC recommended a service interval?
It is technically an amazing achievement but just not to my taste. I hope the technologies found in these 'Extreme Lab' pieces (such as the lubricant-free escapement) will eventually trickle down to the rest of the range!
Thanks,
Bill.

a "toned-down" version with solid dial and a cleaner look. It shows how amazing JLC is. If the dial read, "PP" or "AP" people would be lined up at the door. There is something that JLC needs to do (and they ARE trying) to "catch" that audience and buyer, ...

interesting watch.... However I am a bit skeptic on the design.... your commend that it is more difficult to read up close is interesting and the photos prove you right.... I would, though, like to see it up close.... Thanks for your report... Cheers
Thank you very much, Dje!

I was also impressed by the watch once I saw it in person. I agree with you that legibility of the dial is better from slightly farther away than it is very close-up. The way the numerals float above the dial-side of the movement helps in reading the time...
Thanks Jerome and Nicolas

From the photos: I am dispointed by this watch. not because of its looks, or name or caracterisitcs but because of its huge potential which I found a bit spoiled here. Don't get me wrong, it is still a fantastic watch ! The case design is fabulous, the ca...

Hi, So far JLC did not specify anything about servicing. I'm sure this watch will need to be serviced, probably not as often. Hopefully yes we will see this silicium escapement in more affordable watches (it was already in the yellow gold Master Grande Tr...

Thanks for your great report, Jerome and Nicolas. JLC has been very creative, once again. I like their take not only to put haute horlogerie complications like tourbillons in a sport watch but to think of new sports-watch specific high-end complications. ...
Thank you for your comments

Hi, i understand your points but IMO this watch is also intended to be so much more affordable than the Extreme LAB1 that it ould not have been possible to go beyond the 1, not even as far. They have chosen a different path, in a more affordable package. ...

i saw this LAB2 in Singapore JLC boutique this evening. it is indeed a very nice and solid watch. although i said it is solid, it is not that heavy simply because of the new material made. i didn't bring my camera, sorry for not being able to take some fi...

i like several things, the materials JLC used for this watch, the complications, the design etc. but for myself i prefer simply watch and also smaller one. that's why i said i like it, but i know it is less likely for me to own one in my collection. hope ...

Frankly, i am impressed. For the past few years JL has never missed to show some of the most innovative watches in the industry and the Extreme LAB 2 is another highlight. I think the digital minute indication of the chrono is very practival. I remember t...

...completely right, i forgot to mention the Si escapment. thanks Nicolas. This alone is marketed as a major innovation - and it is - for most other watch brands. See, i got so excited about the watch it even slipped my attention! I really burn to admire ...

Being a newby here, I just wondered; I thought the compressor reference was made with regard to the case back, using a compressor method to make it water tight? If so, the reference is legitimate, isn't it?
Please enlighten me
By: Robert_ : July 28th, 2010-01:43
Dear Nicolas, I must say I do not completely comprehend. 'Highly regarded as a watertight case, they become even more watertight the deeper they go - hence the name "Compressor". (from scubaworld.org , EPSA super-compressor FAQ)' I hope you understand my ...
No problem, Robert.

Historically, you're totally right, Compressor and Super Compressor were used from a Patent whose owner was Mr Piquerez, in March 56. And yes, it was about the case. A case which was used in the 60ies / 70ies by a lot of brands at this moment, such as Lon...
