I completely agree with you. My only concern with the Ref 5000 is the absence of water resistance. But the lack of date is definitely a plus. jubilee 5441 is, of course, the grail! HAGWE

I recently acquired the 5454-04 and is absolutely thrilled with it. Loved it when these Portugiesers were thinner and had no date. Perfect!
Lovely watch and the curved acrylic crystal gives it a nice glow. The date function is present in the movement but it was decided not to show in the dial. The last time that battle was
in favor of the no-date. But i do like a date on my watches, especially if there is plenty of room on a dial like on a Portugieser. Nice pictures Nicolas.
Isnt that the perfect legible dial lay out for a perpetual ? I always wanted a perpetual untill i realised that all the changes are at midnight and i will almost never see the moving of the hands
there should be a button at 10.00 on the case side you can push when you wake up in the morning to see the day/date/month change. But a nice watch it surely is !

Came so close to pulling the trigger a few times around 2005-2006 but could not really convince myself in that last minute of decision making. Still beautiful and has something quite special this 1st gen...
