From a Fratello 2021 review...

"The original Doppelchronograph, the Ref. 3711, came out in 1992. The movement uses the 7750 as the base and added to it is an innovative split-seconds chronograph designed by Richard Habring. He built the first double chronograph movement that uses a cam system for both the chronograph and for the rattrapante. Due to this design, the movement is relatively easy to produce, since a column wheel design requires more fine adjusting. Make no mistake, it’s still complicated and quite delicate, but because of the Valjoux base, the final construction IWC called Cal. 79230 is durable and pretty shock resistant. Make a note of that for later."

Always a big fan of this watch. ...

Very cool!

The movement was designed by Richard Habring for IWC! The coolest Top Gun watch from IWC. Also, minimal branding.

Thanks, Patrick.

Richard Habring is brilliant 😀. I have two of his and Maria’s watches. They’re really nice.

3786 has no Top Gun branding…

Because it was the OG ceramic Doppel. Top Gun came later, and larger.

Ohh! I didn't read the title! Thanks for pointing that out! Good catch!

Looks great 👍

The three of us have the exact same watch!

Now, are we geniuses or dunces? I think geniuses, but that's rather immodest of me!

The limited edition 44mm "3786" came in 2006 while the 46 mm Top Gun was introduced in 2007...

Many of the original's fans were not happy. Here is the 3799 Top Gun in 46 mm: ...

Ahh, I am mistaken.

Seems like we don't own the exact same watch, we all own the same movement though. I have the Top Gun, but I prefer the 44mm 3786 without the Top Gun marking. But that's just me.

Thanks, Mark.

I’m looking at getting one but can’t seem to find much info about the movement (being fully cognizant that Richard designed it). Is if a modified 7750 like all of Habring2’s current offerings? Or is it a vertical-clutched column wheel in-house with a dopp...
