A true classic, but I never really liked it ...
Already when it was still in the regular IWC lineup, I felt it was far too small for me. The JLC movement had the reputation to be too delicate for a true sports watch (back then, the Mark XII was considered a true sports watch), and IWC always were lacking good luminosity (including their diving watches). The original Doppel Chronograph, however, was really cool, and I would still wear it with joy.

It was launched in 1993 as an evolution of the Mark XI, hence the date (it seems that the general public demands dates!!!). Cheers, Nilo
I have a Mark XV, but wish I had gotten a Mark XII.
I like the form=function aesthetic. Add an interesting movement and a good size (for me anyway) and you have a winner. And the date can be a nice addition in a daily-wearer.

but its great your XII has the original tritium dial and hands which have patina'ed nicely. the case is way over polished though, the lugs have lost their sharp edges and look way too rounded. I wish people would stop polishing their watches before sellin...

Of course I notice that. I'm planning to send it to a true polishing "god" here and see if he can bring back the sharp edges. Not a priority, but I go to do soon. Cheers, Nilo

I like the Pilot\'s line a lot (even though I am not a Pilot) and the military connection is quite cool (although would be cooler if I were actually an Air Force pilot!) One day I hope to add a Mark XI to my collection but there are many stops ahead...
That's the IWC I would get, I believe it has a JLC movement (originated from).
