IWC probably tried to achieve a similar feeling for the 40 mm Portugieser! I was really positive, when they announced it, but at the end on the wrist it just is too thick for this kind of watch! They should have done a hand wound version… Maybe it will come someday…
For me 42mm is too large (on my wrist) for this kind of dress watch, despite the origins…

A beautiful piece, especially from the back, and one of my favorites from IWC !
I have a Portugieser Automatic 2000, but its 7-day auto movement definitely does not have the same charm.
