Two masterpieces by George Daniels

Same size, same unusual crown position, two tourbillon timepieces by a master watchmaker...

Best, Emmanuel

A/ The Chronograph Wristwatch

This 42 mm watch with an unusual crown at 12 o'clock has three complications:
  • a power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock
  • a chronograph with pushers unusually placed on the left of the case
  • four-minute tourbillon with Co-Axial escapement

Elapsed seconds & minutes are combined on the left sub-dial. The constant seconds sits on the right sub-dial.

Visible at the right of the Tourbillon, the chronograph mechanism is made of a clutch-type system which engages and disengages the chronograph function from the going train

B/ The “Spring Case” Tourbillon Wristwatch

This 42 mm wristwatch with crown at 12 o'clock is double-sided:
  • The front side displays only the time (the hours and minutes in the centre with the seconds in an oversized sub-dial) and a power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock
  • The back side shows a second dial with twin registers indicating the calendar (with the day at 2 o’clock and the date at 11) and, at 6 o'clock, a compact one-minute tourbillon featuring a “slim-line” Co-Axial escapement

The back with Day-Date Calendar and four-minute Tourbillon

The case is made up of two components:
  • an inner case holding the movement
  • an outer case with the lugs
A hinge at 3 o’clock secures the inner case to the outer one.

The inner case can be popped open via a pusher at 9 o'clock to reveal the reverse face while the watch is on the wrist (of a left-handed wearer) thanks to a curved spring that runs alongside the inside circumference of the outer case
